Christine Sylvester lived with her mum, dad, brothers and sisters at Hoyland Common. She attended the Hoyland Common Junior School and later went onto Kirk Balk Comp where it was an all girls school at the time. Her first job when leaving school was at woolworths. Soon after she met her 1st husbamd, Alfred Sills and moved to Tankersley. After they married they both had 3 children, Christine, Teresa and Sheree. Unfortunatly the marriage did not last and they divorced. She later married her 2nd husband Clifford Plant, with whom she had another daughter called Helen. She lived with her family on Winsor Street, Hoyland. Christine and Teresa grew up and left home leaving Sheree and Helen. Teresa gave birth to a baby boy named Martin Henry and she became a grandmother. In the 80's they moved to a pub in Hoyland called The Kestral, where many people will know them from. Christine (daughter) gave birth to a baby girl named Natalie Bamford,making her a grandmother again. Eventually clifford and christine left the Kestral and moved to Cherry Tree Street, Hoyland. Unfortunatly again her marriage broke down and she took care of her teenage daughters Sheree and Helen alone while working for a cleaner at Higg's fish shop. Helen later went to live with her dad in Doncaster leaving sheree at home who had just got divorced and moved back. Eventually Christine met a man called John Govier and with her children grown up she packed her bags and went to live at Ingleton in the Yorkshire Dales. She First lived in a static caravan and was never happier. During this time she became a grandmother again to 3 more children, Alexia, Brandon and Zac. Christine worked as a cleaner an a nursing home at Ingleton and eventually became Domestic Manager. She loved her job and said many times she was going to retire, but she never did. She finally married John and her close family attended.John gave Christine the life she wanted taking her on holidays abroad 3 times a year, as christine loved the sun. However tragady was to strike, John was diagnosed with stomach cancer. Christine worked and cared for John throughout his illness, visiting him everyday while in hospital. John eventually made a full recovery. During this time she became a great-grandmother when her grandson Martin had a baby girl called Naomi. Christine finally decided that she would work part-time so she could spend more time with her family whom she loved very much. She visited her family once a month travelling from Ingleton, takin her grandchildren swimming, on holidays and spending her hard earned money on the people she loved. The family named her cheque book nannan as she would give all she could. Christine will always be remembered for pulling her little green case with her everywhere she went when visiting her family. Unfortunatly in 2008 she was diagnosed with bladder Cancer. She was forced to give up work and begin chemopherapy. In December 2008 she went into hospital for removel of her bladder. Unfortunatly Christine never left the hospital, as blunders with her operation resulted in her becoming ill and eventually dying. The only consolation her family has is that she didnt know she was going to die and was sedated until the end. She died peacefully and not in pain.
